Supreme Court Will Expedite Trump Immunity Case

They did not indicate how soon the matter will be heard.

The Supreme Court of the United States has agreed to expedite Special Counsel Jack Smith’s request, made on Monday, to make a speedy decision on whether former President Donald Trump has immunity from federal prosecution for crimes allegedly committed while in office.

In his petition, the special counsel wrote, “A cornerstone of our constitutional order is that no person is above the law. The force of that principle is at its zenith where, as here, a grand jury has accused a former president of committing federal crimes to subvert the peaceful transfer of power to his lawfully elected successor.”

Attorneys for President Trump were directed to submit a response to Special Counsel Smith’s pleadings by 4 p.m. December 20. The next scheduling conference for the justices is January 5.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the justices of the Supreme Court as they consider and respond to requests to hear appeals.
  • For wisdom for the justices as they hear and decide the cases argued before them.
  • For the truth and justice to prevail in the case of the former president.
